Biography

Prior to moving to British Columbia, I had the opportunity to live and work in the Republic of Palau where I ran the public health strategic planning initiative. Since moving to BC, I have been able to continue working with rural and remote communities to improve skin health in children, as well as to serve as co-founder of the International Alliance for Global Health Dermatology.

I am interested in how skin disease affects children and families and in learning more about how we can lessen the impact of skin disease worldwide. Increasing access to dermatology care, improving models of care, training local providers in diagnosis of skin disease, providing leadership training to dermatologist changemakers around the world, and decreasing the stigma of skin disease will all improve the lives of children with skin problems. This is a particularly opportune moment to work in this space because in 2025 the WHO resolved that skin health is a Global Public Health Priority.

The Institute for Global Health acknowledges with gratitude, that we gather and operate on the unceded, traditional, and ancestral territory of the Coast Salish peoples — xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. First Nations who have nurtured and cared for the lands and waters around us for all time. We invite everyone to reflect on the traditional territories and land that they currently work and live on.
