We are pleased to share the Institute for Global Health at BC Children’s Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre (IGH-CW) 2026–2031 Strategic Plan.

Developed through extensive collaboration with Global Health partners, IGH-CW Working Groups, and community input across BC Children’s & Women’s Hospital and partner institutions, this Strategic Plan reflects a shared vision for strengthening Global Health through research, education, clinical care, capacity building, and authentic partnerships over the next five years.

The Strategic Plan is organized around three strategic directions that will guide IGH-CW’s work from 2026–2031:

  • Building a Strong, Coherent Foundation for Global Health

  • Cultivating an Effectively Connected and Engaged IGH-CW Community

  • Purposeful and Authentic BC–Global Collaborations and Shared Leadership

Together, these priorities aim to strengthen collaboration, connectedness, and sustainable Global Health initiatives that improve the health and well-being of women, children, and families globally.

The Institute for Global Health acknowledges with gratitude, that we gather and operate on the unceded, traditional, and ancestral territory of the Coast Salish peoples — xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. First Nations who have nurtured and cared for the lands and waters around us for all time. We invite everyone to reflect on the traditional territories and land that they currently work and live on.
